Fashion Lookbook!

I have always maintained that if I designed/ owned a fashion line, my clothes would be some combination of Anthropologie, Urban Outfitters, Free People, Oscar de la Renta, and Charlotte Ronson. I love flipping through magazines, as my eyes take in the colorful layouts, and piecing together outfits that match current trends or have a common theme. I have always loved bright colors and intricate patterns, so the bright tribal prints that are big now are right up my alley. I also like the relaxed, carefree approach Free People and Urban have, as well as the slightly more polished, more sophisticated looks from Anthropologie, that consistently mix new and old in surprising combinations of colors, stitching, and high quality detail. I like Charlotte Ronson for the playfulness, as well as Carolina Herrera and Oscar de la Renta, perennial successes. Recently, I have taken a liking to Diane Vonf Furstenberg, and DVF's Spring 2009 is incredible. Hence, I have pieced together some magazine scans, runway looks, and ready to wear items from the past few years, and particularly from this coming season, into some snapshots of fashion inspiration. This season, I couldn't help but think that a number of pieces reminded me of the Oaxacan Animal Carvings that my family collects. Carved and handpainted by the Zapotec Indians in Mexico's Oaxaca Valley, the animals are playful and colorful. They are eye-catching and have both a modern and eclectic, or traditional value to them. And if I had the money to blow $50-500 on each one, these "Alebrijes" would take over my house. Here are some of my favorite looks of this season (and of all-time!)
